Families are selected based on 3 criteria:
Need for Improved Housing
Ability to Pay an Affordable Home Repair Loan
Willingness to Partner
Need for Improved Housing:
Household area median income (AMI) must be below 60%. (see table below)
Exterior house materials are deteriorating or not in sound condition.
Exterior house conditions limit the accessibility or pose a safety risk to the homeowner.
Ability to Pay:
Homeowner must have sufficient income to make a monthly loan payment.
Willingness to Partner:
Families are required to complete 8 hours of sweat equity (volunteer labor) by the completion of the repair project. This may include assisting with the home repair, working on a partner's family build site, or helping with a Habitat event.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS:
Applicant(s) must own their home.
Applicant(s) must be US Citizens or have Legal Permanent Resident Status.
Applicant(s) must be current on their property taxes.
Applicant(s) must be current on their homeowner’s insurance.
